CBSE is planning to introduce sports journalism as a vocational subject in schools by 2013, according to CBSE assistant education officer (AEO) Pushkar Vohra. "It will provide a new platform to the students who are have interest in sports," he said.
Vohra found sports in state schools lacking in technicality and focus in comparison to other states. "Though there are students who have the potential, I found the schools lacking in focus and planning for sports. The officials concerned are lethargic and lack the right attitude which should be improved," he said.
Vohra was the chief guest at a function organized at DAV Public School here on Wednesday. He felt that to be a master of one trade was better than being a Jack of all. He was giving his suggestions to the schools for promoting sports at their institutions. "It will be beneficial for schools to concentrate on promoting one or two games rather than all kinds of sports which will yield a better result," said the AEO.
He shared inspirational stories with the students on the occasion and asked them to play and exercise regularly to keep fit and healthy. "If you are healthy, you can take more challenges and perform well in life. Develop a content in yourself which can take you to a height," said Vohra.
