The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the exam schedule for Class 10 and 12 board exams soon. The exams are likely to start in February 2024 and end in April. Based on previous updates, the exams may begin on February 15, 2024.
Since 2023, CBSE has been holding board exams starting from February 15, unlike in 2021 and 2022, when the exams were held later in the year.
The exams will be conducted in a pen-and-paper format. A separate schedule for practical exams will also be issued. Class 12 practicals will be overseen by external examiners, while Class 10 practicals will be conducted by school teachers.
The exam timetable will include details about the exam dates, timings, and important instructions for students.
In addition, CBSE is considering a semester system with two board exams per year. However, no final decision has been made, and this change might not be introduced until after the 2024-25 academic session.
The proposal for this system is part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, developed by a national steering committee led by former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan.
