The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has rolled out stringent measures for the upcoming 2025 Class X and XII Board examinations to curb cheating and malpractice. With approximately 44 lakh students set to participate in exams across 204 subjects starting February 15, 2025, CBSE is determined to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
New Guidelines and Penalties:
Cheating and Electronic Devices: Students caught using unauthorized materials or electronic devices like mobile phones or smartwatches will face immediate cancellation of their current examination and a two-year ban from all CBSE exams. This ’Unfair Means’ (UFM) policy is designed to promote a fair examination environment.
Impersonation and Social Media Misconduct: Impersonation, one of the gravest offences, will lead to the cancellation of the current exam and a three-year ban from CBSE exams. Similarly, sharing exam material on social media or any attempt to influence exam outcomes unfairly will result in the same severe penalty.
Violence and Disruption: Acts of violence, threats against exam staff, or any disruptive behavior will not only cancel the student’s current and next year’s exams but could also lead to further disciplinary actions.
Barred Items:
CBSE has strictly prohibited the following from examination halls:
Electronic devices including mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and any form of communication equipment.
Textual materials, pens beyond the allowed type (only blue/royal blue ink pens), calculators, and other aids like log tables.
Personal items such as wallets, handbags, and food (with exceptions for diabetic students).
Dress Code and Allowed Items:
Dress Code: Regular students must wear their school uniform, while private candidates are to dress in light clothes to facilitate thorough checks for prohibited items.
Allowed Items: Students can carry only transparent pouches for stationery, an analogue watch, a transparent water bottle, and necessary identification like admit cards and photo IDs.
Enforcement and Monitoring:
CBSE has enhanced its monitoring protocols, ensuring rigorous checks at entry points with physical frisking to prevent any malpractices. The enforcement of these rules is non-negotiable, aiming to maintain the sanctity of the examination process.
This strict framework reflects CBSE’s commitment to fairness and integrity in educational assessments, ensuring that all students have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills without external aids or manipulations. Students are advised to comply with these guidelines to avoid harsh repercussions that could impact their academic future.
