India’s Progress Since Independence
By : Pramod India has no doubt made amazing progress in all spheres since Independence. Our country has made giant leaps forward and emerged as one of the major progressive economies of the world.India being predominantly an agricultural economy has made tremendous progress in this sector and has emerged as the second largest paddy producer and sugar producer in the world. Mechanisation of agriculture which has brought about a kind of ‘Green Revolution’ has brought India to a level of self-sufficiency, despite rapid expansion of population. With emphasis on Horticulture, India is the largest producer of fruits and the second largest producer of vegetables. India’s so-called ‘Green Revolution’ has simultaneously witnessed even a ‘White Revolution’ with India being the world’s largest producer of milk. It is also an achievement that the Indian pharma industry is ranked fourth in the world. Various contagious diseases have been brought under control with great scientific development. India has also made rapid strides in defence preparedness. We have worked hard to give reality to our dreams to build our country in which all her coming generations can dwell with pride. These achievements which we celebrate today are nothing but a step towards greater triumphs and achievements that await us in the future.
