Mandela was unable to fulfi l these obligations because in attempting to serve his people he found that he was prevented from fulfi lling his obligations as a son, a brother, a father and a husband.

During Rodrigues’ childhood in Goa, the baker used to be their friend, companion and guide. He used to come at least twice a day. Once, when he set out in the morning on his selling round, and then again, when he returned after emptying his huge basket. The jingling thud of the baker’s bamboo woke the children up from their sleep and they ran to meet and greet him, longing for those bread bangles which they chose carefully and ate without caring to brush their teeth or wash their mouths properly.

Ans. (a) Chubukov, is in fact surprised to see Lomov in his house, especially because he (Lomov) comes in formally dressed with evening dress and gloves. He suspects that Lomov might have come to borrow money from him.
(b) Inside the clouds, everything was black. It was impossible to see anything outside the aeroplane. The old aeroplane jumped and twisted in the air. The compass, radio and other instruments were dead and the pilot was lost in the storm.
