Example 2. The adjoining pie-chart represents the marks obtained by a student in an examination in english, hindi, science, social science and Mathematics. If the total marks obtained by the students were 720, find his percentage marks and marks in each subject.
Solution:- To solve this problem, we shall use table:
Subject | Sector Angle | Percentage | Marks |
English | 550 | 55 X 100/360 = 15.3 | 55 X 720/360 = 110 |
Hindi | 700 | 70 X 100/360 = 19.4 | 70 X 720/360 = 140 |
Science | 800 | 80 X 100/360 = 22.2 | 80 X 720/360 = 160 |
Social science | 650 | 65 X 100/360 = 18.1 | 65 X 720/360 = 130 |
Mathematics | 900 | 90 X 100/360 = 25 | 90X720/360=180 |
Total | 3600 | 100 | 720 |
