Q. 1. What is the exponent of 3 in the prime factorization of 864?

Ans. Exponent of 3 is 3

Sol.

864 = 2⁵ x3³
Exponent of 3 is 3

Q. 2. The graph of the polynomial y = ax² + bx + c is shown in Fig. 1. Write thevalue of b² – 4ac

Ans .

b² – 4ac = 0
y = ax² + bx + c

Sol.2. The graph touches the x-axis at one point only
Value of b² – 4ac = 0

Q. 3. Write the values of k for which the quadratic equation x² – kx + 9 = 0 has equal roots.

Ans. k = 6

Sol. 3. Here ‘a’= 1, b = – k, c = 9
D = 0 …(Equal roots)
b² – 4ac = 0
(– k)² – 4(1) (9) = 0 k² – 36 = 0
k² = 36 k = 6
