A major challenge faced by political parties is that very often, the parties do not seem to offer meaningful choices to the voters. In recent years, there has been a decline in ideological differences among parties in most parts of the world. For example, The Labour Party and Conservative Party in Britain are not very different from each other. They agree on more fundamental aspects but differ only in details on how policies are to be framed and implemented. Even in India, the differences among all the major political parties on the economic policies have reduced. Citizens who want different policies have little option available to them. Sometimes citizens who want to elect different leaders are left with no choice because the same set of leaders keep shifting from one party to another. Q. 26.
