Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, or BAOU as it is now commonly known, was established in 1994 in order to give boost to the already existing tradition of distance learning in Gujarat. With the growing acceptance of the distance learning mode, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahemedabad is expected to further expand the reach of the common people to the higher education.
