ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION
By : Rahul
‘Environmental degradation’ has become a major issue of concern in the present times. Our wanton disregard of the environment cannot be taken lightly. It is unfortunate that slowly but surely we all are in some way or the other contributing towards environmental pollution. Water pollution is one of the prime issues that has to be curtailed and curbed on an urgent basis. A large quantity of dead fish is taken out of the rivers every year. This is a reflection on the level and state of water pollution. Industrial waste is being let out in water bodies without being treated. How can we afford to have such a callous attitude towards our water bodies. Water is our life sustaining source and we have been ruthlessly degrading our water bodies. It is high time we put an end to our misuse of water bodies and this deliberate deterioration of water bodies under the guise of modernisation. We need to keep our rivers and lakes clean and treat industrial waste before releasing it in these rivers and lakes. This task can only be accomplished if each one of us does our bit to save the environment and save the planet ‘Earth’.
